I've just closed a chapter in my life and am about to start a new one - or maybe two: being a stay-at-home mom and an entrepreneur. Being a stay-at-home mom is scarier then one might think. At least at work, I had other people around to help pick up the slack or give me a break, but now, it's just me, all day long with no breaks. Even at nap time there are a million things I should be doing that I can't get done with a 2-month-old strapped in the
BabyBjorn and 2-year-old acting as a second shadow. Though there are minutes of days that I long to rejoin the work force, I wouldn't trade being home with my kids for the world.
Caitlyn, ("Caitie"),is almost 2 1/2 and is the smartest, most beautiful little girl in my eyes. She looks just like her daddy, but is all girl. Samuel, ("Sam"), is just 2 months and is still in the sleep-all-the-time phase. He usually only cries when hungry and has been a smile-er since in the womb - quite different from his older sister who is still a bit stingy with her smiles.
I just turned 27 and have been married to my best friend, Joel, for over 5 years. We started out in a tiny two bedroom, one bath house we rented from my parents 3 streets over from the ghetto of Medford. We had no furniture, no money and ate on the floor in front of the wide-open picture window in the living room with a towel-draped cardboard box as our table. Our house had charm until we had Caitlyn and then our cute, eclectic, hand-me-down style quickly became a cluttered mess. Now, even with 2 1/2 times the size, it seems my house is still a cluttered mess, with baby and toddler accessories strewn about.
So, this new chapter is my struggle...being a hands-on mom with a clean house while creating a product I can sell. Crissy's Crowns (coined by my mother-in-law) will be mostly crocheted hats and beanies, but I'll make scarfs, blankets and other accessories, too.
I'm new to the blogging world, so bare with me. I'm excited to see what I can do with Crissy's Crowns and hope it will go far. I love crocheting and I love being a mom. Let's see if I can balance the two. Here's to a new beginning...
